These are held on Mondays 1.00 - 3.00pm.
Asthma /COPD Clinic
Both the asthma clinic and the COPD clinic are nurse-led and are open to all asthmatics or patients with COPD for assessment advice and management of symptoms. The clinic aims to help patients understand their
respiratory disease and share in the management of it. When booking please make a double appointment.
Blood Pressure Clinic
This clinic is for the benefit of patients with hypertension, or patients who need to have their blood pressure monitored regularly.
Cervical Smears
Our practice nurses take most smears and these are usually taken during the nurse's normal clinic times Monday to Friday. Please note that mid-cycle (usually 14 days after your last period) is the best time to
have your smear taken because a clearer background to the sample can be gained around this time.
Contraception
The practice provides a wide range of contraception services, including coils and implants. Confidential advice is available from our doctors or the nurse at the surgery. A coil fitting service is also available.
Coronary Heart Disease/Cardiac Prevention Clinic
Coronary heart disease patients, such as those with a history of angina / previous heart attack will be invited to attend a review clinic with a practice nurse. Please see your GP for a referral to
this clinic.
Diabetes
Open to all diabetics for reviews and advice. The diabetic clinic is run on a Thursday afternoon with our nurses and a GP.
To enable us to accurately monitor your recent blood sugar levels you will also be required to book a fasting blood test (early appointment - no food - water only for 14 hours prior test), with the blood
nurse, at least two weeks before your diabetic appointment.
Due to new Government Guidelines it is now necessary to test for microalbuminuria which requires an early morning urine sample to be taken on the morning of
your blood test, and handed into reception on arrival, to be sent off for analysis. You will therefore need to collect a white topped specimen bottle before your
blood appointment, so you can bring this with you on the day of blood test.
If you have any Optician reports or have attended for either NHS or private Chiropody could you please bring a copy with you when you attend your appointment.
Once a month we also have a podiatrist who attends the diabetic clinic. If you would like to know what date the podiatrist is attending please contact reception.
