Both the asthma clinic and the COPD clinic are nurse-led and are open to all asthmatics or patients with COPD for assessment advice and management of symptoms. The clinic aims to help patients understand their respiratory disease and share in the management of it. When booking please make a double appointment.
Blood Pressure Clinic
This clinic is for the benefit of patients with hypertension, or those who otherwise need to have their blood pressure monitored regularly.
Our practice nurses take most smears and these are usually taken during the nurse's normal clinic times Monday to Friday. Please note that mid-cycle (usually 14 days after your last period) is the best time to have your smear taken because a clearer background to the sample can be gained around this time.
The practice provides a wide range of contraception services, coil and implant fitting. Confidential advice is available from our doctors or the nurse at the surgery. Practical nurse Taborro can also carry out sexual health checks.
Coronary Heart Disease/Cardiac Prevention Clinic
Coronary heart disease patients, such as those with a history of angina / previous heart attack will be invited to attend a review clinic with a practice nurse. Please see your GP for a referral to this clinic.
Open to all diabetics for reviews and advice.
To enable us to accurately monitor your recent blood sugar levels you will also be required to book a fasting blood test (early appointment - no food - water only for 14 hours prior to test) with the blood nurse, at least two weeks before your diabetic appointment.
The NHS deems it necessary to test for microalbuminuria which requires an early morning urine sample to be taken on the morning of your blood test, and handed into reception on arrival, to be sent off for analysis. You will therefore need to collect a white topped specimen bottle before your blood appointment, so you can bring this with you on the day of the blood test.
If you have any optician's reports or have attended for either NHS or private chiropody, could you please bring a copy with you when you attend your appointment.
We have a specialist diabetic nurse attached to the clinic who holds a session for diabetic patients on a Friday.
Our Healthcare assistant (Christine) can now do podiatry clinics, these are done any day of the week.
This is available between October and January. Please contact reception to make your appointment.
We undertake minor surgery when necessary. Discuss with your doctor in a normal surgery consultation first.
New Patient Check & Well-Man/Well-Woman Checks
Our nurses carry out checks incorporating health screening and lifestyle advice. If you are attending one of these appointments please bring a sample of urine with you for testing.
Smoking Cessation Clinic
This service is provided by one of the nurses of our healthcare assistant on Tuesdays between 6.30 - 7.30pm.
If you are going abroad and would like to know what vaccinations (including yellow fever) you will need, you can make an appointment in our travel clinic with one of our practice nurses. The nurse will advise you on vaccinations and can start vaccinating you on your first appointment.
Please note that there may be a charge for some travel vaccinations. A list of prices can be seen at reception. If possible try to book your travel clinic appointment at least six weeks prior to your departure.
Warfarin (INR) Clinic
The practice provides a Warfarin clinic on Wednesday mornings.
Dr Sarang provides these on Thursday mornings for patients with musculo-skeletal conditions.
